Through the years, we have studied the Masters of the Golden Age of Poster Art. Inspired by graphic design and travel art illustration from the late 1800s to the mid-1900s, we enjoy doing as much as possible by hand. We strive to create travel wall decor that looks like it was produced in the early part of the 20th century.

During his senior year, Derek was an all-star intern with us, producing several posters that have been published in our various collections. His stellar work earned him a full-time staff position once he graduated in the spring of 2017. Derek enjoys creating ideas from a narrator’s point of view, deciding what perspective tells the story most effectively. In his free time Derek enjoys exercising his creative muscle through multiple outlets, such as skateboarding with friends and playing music on his guitar.

Part of the reason that we work so well together is that ADG takes an active lead in coordinating all building and site related disciplines, including Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, Land Surveying, Civil, Geotechnical Engineering. Our offices currently use the latest versions of AutoCAD and Autodesk Revit software to create detailed building information models (BIM). Revit allows us to link with the building information model with our engineering consultants, decreasing our documentation time and allowing for more flexibility for multiple design options. This coordination between the disciplines reduces design inefficiencies and enhances our ability to resolve constructability issues before they occur.

Architectural / Engineering Discipline Coordination

This video was produced by one of our clients after we created their logo and fell in love with their products. On average, approximately 10% of our projects during any given year are performed utilizing the Design/Build method. We often recommend this method on large industrial projects when an owner is looking gain the benefits of working with a pre-qualified General Contractor during the design phase of the project. At multiple points during the design and documentation process, our office will perform construction budget estimates to confirm that the overall design, and discipline specific design elements are falling within the Owner’s previously designed budget. At a minimum, we recommend that these estimates to be performed at the conclusion of the Conceptual Schematic Design Phase, conclusion of the Design Development Phase (40% +/-), and during the Construction Document Phase (80% +/-). Our team of Architects and Engineers have worked together for more than 20 years on a great variety of projects.

Derek is a sci-fi nerd at heart and lately has taken to creating fictional movie and video game poster art. Derek’s drive and passion to make poster art is fueled by the inspiring people he works with at ADG. In 2007, the partners decided to pursue different interests, so Joel reorganized the design firm as Anderson Design Group, Inc., narrowing the studio's focus to specialize in illustration and poster design. They offer cruise parking with the a “Park, Sleep, and Cruise” deal on the Best Western website. With this, you get a night’s stay and up to seven nights of parking. If you need to park longer than a week, it’s just $10 per day.

Hotels near Port of LA Cruise Terminal, San Pedro

The staff are friendly and you’ll find ample parking here, too. The only real downside is that, while it’s not that far, it still isn’t as close to the Port as some of the other hotels we’ve listed here.
